A BFA in illustration from Moore College of Art in Philadelphia, PA launched my career as a technical illustrator for a major defense contractor in Baltimore, Maryland. Then, after further enhancing my skills with an MA in Publications Design from the University of Baltimore, I spent the majority of my professional career planning and overseeing the design and production of executive presentations, brochures, and marketing display panels. Finally, in the fall of 1999, I hung up my T-square and triangle and moved with my husband to eastern North Carolina. At last, I have had the time and opportunity to devote to fine arts painting. After years of creating painstakingly accurate representations of products and technologies, it has been quite a pleasure to paint subjects that I enjoy, placing my major emphasis on color and design.
Because they enable spontaneity and freshness, I have chosen water-based paints as my mediums for expression. With these mediums and my choice of subject matter, I have attempted to capture the flavor of North Carolina in my paintings.
To stimulate my growth as an artist, I have participated in painting workshops with watercolorists Chuck McLachlan, Charles Sharpe, and Tony Couch, acrylic painter Larry Burge, and portrait artist/illustrator Chuck Liese. I have artwork showing at the Carolina Artists Studio Gallery in Morehead City, NC; the Mattie King Davis Gallery in the historic site in Beaufort, NC; and at The Painted Pelican on the outskirts of Morehead. Additionally, I am a member of the Twin Rivers Artists' Association in New Bern, NC and have won prizes in their juried shows, as well as being an award winning artist in the Carteret County Arts Council's annual juried show Art From The Heart, and the recipient of a viewers' choice award at the Havelock, NC annual Touch of Class art show.
For me, painting is great fun - a challenging adventure. If you have any questions or requests (commissions welcome), please contact me.
